Starting Autumn 2023, Glasgow Library of Synthesized Sound will be providing regular electronic music library sessions providing the people of Glasgow an accessible opportunity to play with, learn about, record and hang out with a library of electronic instruments and gear.

G.L.O.S.S. will be host to an evolving permanent library of instruments consisting of donations from individuals, groups and organisations who value creating opportunities and access to electronic instruments. (If you would like to contribute, please get in touch!)

We'll also host guest instruments loaned to us temporarily to give our community an ever-changing menu of instruments to play with. (Again, reach out if you've got something to contribute!)

As a non-profit community organisation, 100% of any profits made are re-invested in the library for the benefit of the community we serve and are part of.

G.L.O.S.S. is an organisation formed by musicians and enthusiasts to encourage and support the growth, collaboration and vibrancy of electronic music in Glasgow. We recognise that diversity plays an extremely important role in creating a community that's capable of doing this which is why we'll reserve places for members of underrepresented groups in electronic music including women, LGBTQI+, ethnic minorities, working class people and disabled people.

Whilst we'll always strive to keep our session costs to a minimum for everyone, we'll also offer free spaces reserved for those who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford to attend.

As well as our monthly programme of library sessions keep your ears peeled for workshops, events, gigs, meet-ups, guest lectures, residencies and more bubbling away in the background.

Our booking service will be available here soon - sign up to our mailing list to be informed first. Here's how it will work:

  1. Book your time slot online, selecting from a choice of dates and times.

  2. If you like, you can pre-book any instruments from our library that you'd like to use for your session.

  3. Turn up and make some sounds. You're invited to bring a pal and/or any recording equipment (laptop, field recorder etc.) to record your session.

G.L.O.S.S. is for everyone regardless of experience level. For each of our instruments, you will be given the option of receiving a G.L.O.S.S. guide-zine for the selected instrument to help you get started. As well as this, a limited number of mentoring opportunities will also be made available offering the opportunity to  work 1-2-1 with an experienced member of G.L.O.S.S.

All sessions will be invigilated by an experienced synth librarian who will be on hand to help you get set up.
